About The Frog

The Frog is the official blog of The Arts Association of East Alabama. The goal of this blog is to connect our audience and our performing artists, forge a link between the arts and our community, and highlight East Alabama's connection to the world of the arts. Just as the railroad switch known as "the frog" facilitated the connection for years between two major rail lines just outside the Opelika Train Depot, this blog will provide the same service for the arts community. Travel to new experiences through the news about upcoming events, interviews with artists, and exciting multimedia that you'll find posted here.

Welcome to The Frog.

A Presidential Fourth at The Little White House in Warm Springs

Posted on Monday, July 4, 2011 by Kyle Gassiott

It's a special Fourth of July edition of Community Focus as East Alabama Art's Kyle Gassiott visits FDR's Little White House in Warm Springs, GA. On today's show we get a special tour of the house and grounds with park guide Steve Lane and later talk with senior historian David Wollner of the Roosevelt Institute. If you've never been to the Little White House it's definitely worth the trip. The museum boasts a collection of artifacts from Roosevelt's life and presidencies that open up both the public and private life of FDR. You see the car the president designed and drove (complete with dings in the bumper), many of his personal letters and correspondence, and just a sampling of the many walking canes sent to him from around the world.
